That's one big bird!

Twenty-pound bird. Ten-pound oven. It's a problem a lot of New Yorkers can identify with: How to cook a large turkey for your Thanksgiving spread in a small apartment oven.

It turns out that in 1945, turkeys for the holiday were going to be bigger than normal, so in his weekly WNYC radio address on October 28th, 1945, Mayor Fiorello La Guardia gave listeners a delightfully detailed solution to the problem.
