Michelle Buteau On Comedy After Lockdown

Comedian Michelle Buteau performs Saturday night at Town Hall in Manhattan.

Comedians have been performing at more than 100 venues around the city during the New York Comedy Festival, including Carnegie Hall, Carolines on Broadway and the Apollo Theater. It's a huge change from last year, when everything was still virtual.

Michelle Buteau is performing Saturday night at Town Hall. She has starred in comedy specials, hosted podcasts, appeared in several movies and TV shows, and her Netflix special, Welcome to Buteaupia, debuted last year.

She joins us to talk about getting back to performing after the pandemic lockdown. Speaking with WNYC's David Furst she says, "It feels like the first time you're on a roller coaster... it's just pure joy."
