New Programs on WNYC and NJPR

Starting September 6, you’ll notice a few changes to the programming schedules of WNYC FM, AM and New Jersey Public Radio.

We’re pleased to add NPR’s TED Radio Hour to our Sunday line-up at 7am on AM820 and 6pm on 93.9FM and NJPR. TED has grown from a four-day conference in California 25 years ago, to an international platform identifying big ideas that could transform our way of life. As a radio show, the popular TED talks are mixed with additional conversations led by the world’s leading thinkers, and guided by Guy Raz in the host chair.

Here & Now joins our weekday schedule on AM820 and NJPR at 2pm, extending our news programming in the afternoon leading up to The World, The Takeaway and All Things Considered. A live production of WBUR and NPR, Here & Now hosts Robin Young and Jeremy Hobson keep a quick pace in identifying the day’s top stories, bolstered by timely, smart and in-depth conversations from NPR correspondents, newsmakers and listeners. Fresh Air will continue to be heard Monday - Thursday at 2pm on 93.9FM, and Monday - Friday at 9pm on NJPR.

Marketplace Weekend now follows Weekend All Things Considered, Sundays at 6pm on AM820.  Marketplace Weekend was launched earlier this summer with host Lizzie O’Leary.  Produced in New York City, with a sharp New York flavor, the program brings the week’s economic headlines home, focusing on personal finance and business with a fun, off-the-cuff approach not often associated with the world of economics. Marketplace Weekend can also be heard, Saturdays at 6am on AM820.

The addition of these new programs, brings changes to the scheduling of some others.

Slate’s Gabfest Radio ended production in August. The radio show combined Slate’s popular Political and Cultural Gabfest podcasts into a sharp, hour-long program built on contentious discussion and debate. The good news is you can still hear the full, unedited versions of Slate’s The Political Gabfest and The Cultural Gabfest by subscribing to the podcasts online.

On Being’s Sunday, 9pm slot on 93.9 FM will be replaced by Bullseye with Jesse Thorn (moving from Sunday, 6pm). On Being with Krista Tippett will continue to be a vital part of our Sunday schedule airing at 7am on 93.9FM, 4pm on AM820 and 8pm on NJPR .

On NJPR, the addition of the TED Radio Hour on Sundays, shifts This American Life and On Being to 7pm and 8pm respectively.

As always, we value your feedback and are interested to hear your thoughts on the new programs.  Feel free to write to us.
