One person is dead and two are missing in after a tugboat sank into the Hudson River after crashing into a barge early Saturday.
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said state police are using sonar to locate the tugboat, which sank after hitting a stationary barge being used in the Tappan Zee Bridge construction project north of New York City.
Cuomo said he did not want to speculate on what caused the crash.
"Obviously this is just a tragedy," Cuomo said. "A tragic accident."
Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino said the body of 62-year-old Paul Amon of Bayville, N.J., was recovered from the river. Two others, including a 29-year-old man, are missing and presumed dead. Authorities said divers entered the water Saturday evening to search for the boat and the two missing people.
Authorities say 5,000 gallons of diesel fuel spilled into the Hudson River. Cuomo said a spill team from the Department of Environmental Conservation was on site.
