Now Open: Post-Ellis at Ellis Island

Ellis Island, open from 1892 to 1954, was a small but vital chapter of America's immigration story. Stephen Briganti, President and CEO of the Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation, talks about how the new wing in the Peopling of America Center on Ellis Island expands the story.

The new post-Ellis section - “The Journey: New Eras of Immigration” - focuses on immigration from 1954 to present times, telling the stories of immigrants decades after the last arrival was processed through its doors. The new Peopling of America galleries will open to the public on May 20, 2015.
