In October, California Governor Jerry Brown signed a bill into law that made knowingly exposing a sexual partner to HIV into a misdemeanor, rather than a serious felony. This was a legal and cultural milestone for the way Americans perceive HIV and AIDS. For "Please Explain," we look at the legacy of AIDS activism, and where the movement is today. Our panelists are Naina Khanna, executive director of Positive Women’s Network – USA (PWN-USA), Steven Thrasher, a journalist who writes about HIV/AIDS and LGBTQ issues, and Avram Finkelstein, a founding member of the Silence=Death activist squad in the 1980's.
This segment is guest hosted by Hari Kondabolu.
