Rokia Traoré is an award-winning singer and songwriter from Mali whose music combines traditional West African instruments and rhythms with Western pop. She is also one of this year’s guests at the 18th annual globalFEST, which, in a normal year, would bring musicians from around the world to New York to celebrate the diversity of the world’s music. This year’s globalFEST will be digital, and it’ll be done in collaboration with NPR’s very popular Tiny Desk Concert series.
Rokia Traoré is one of 16 global artists performing at NPR Music’s Tiny Desk Meets globalFEST series, which opens Mon., Jan. 11, and runs through Thurs. night, Jan. 14. West African superstar Angélique Kidjo is the host.
