Talib Kweli at Brooklyn Bowl
Oct. 14 & Oct. 15. 8PM. $20.
Both on his own and as half of the duo Black Star in the 90s, Brooklyn rapper Talib Kweli has been a leading figure in the world of socially conscious rap for over twenty years. But his career has cast a wider net than just hip hop; he’s collaborated with Norah Jones, the Brazilian singer Seu Jorge, R&B star Miguel, and his lyrics occasionally name check jazz greats of the past. And while a number of his songs were built on samples, his live shows usually revolve around a full band. Talib Kweli and his band play on Thursday and Friday nights, Oct. 14 & 15 at Brooklyn Bowl.
