The Basketball Hall of Fame declared Dean Smith a “coaching legend” – which he earned in the course of his 36-year coaching tenure at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. And while he had the ninth highest winning percentage of any men’s college basketball coach, what’s even more remarkable is that 96.6 percent of his athletes received their degrees.
