Census data analysis shows that one in four caregivers working in nursing homes, home care agencies, and assisted living facilities are foreign-born. With people living longer, there’s an increase in the demand for labor. But now there are also growing concerns about the size of the labor pool, as restrictions on immigration increase under the Trump administration.

President Trump's immigration crackdowns could present a problem for a sector of the economy that is projected to reach 5.8 million workers by 2026. Stephen Campbell is a research associate at PHI, and he joins the program to talk about what the immigration policy changes mean for the industry going forward. The Takeaway also speaks with Mary DiGangi, the Assistant Vice President at Menorah Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing Care in Brooklyn, about how the Trump administration's immigration policies are impacting the industry's workforce.
