NJ Governor-Elect, Phil Murphy announces Catherine McCabe as state DEP commissioner

New Jersey Governor-elect Phil Murphy is naming a former acting director of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to lead his state's environmental department. Catherine McCabe served as the EPA's acting regional administrator for New Jersey, New York, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. She briefly lead the EPA earlier this year.

With Chris Christie leaving office and Phil Murphy taking over on January 16th, we look at what the transition of power will mean for environmental regulations in the Garden State. Doug O'Malley, the Director of the advocacy group Environment New Jersey joins us on This Week in Politics.

Speaking with host David Furst, O'Malley says, "The Christie era has been an absolute disaster for New Jersey in terms of the environment. We've gone from being a leader to being a laggard."
