What 83 Million Eviction Records Tell Us About Housing in America

Midday on WNYC | Apr 18, 2018

New York Times reporter Emily Badger and local tenant organizers Randy Dillard and Susanna Blankley discuss the crisis of home evictions in the United States, and what's being done about it in New York City. Badger’s recent article for The Upshot, “In 83 Million Eviction Records, a Sweeping and Intimate New Look at Housing in America,” examines revelations from the Eviction Lab, founded by Princeton sociologist Matthew Desmond. Dillard and Blankley talk about their successful work with Right to Counsel NYC and Eviction Free NYC to mandate that New York City provide free attorneys to low-income tenants facing eviction.

This segment is guest hosted by Alison Stewart.
