The Great Studio 360 Doodle Dare

Inspired by vintage doodle books, our challenge gives you a fragment of a drawing to complete any way you’d like. Alison Bechdel, the noted cartoonist and winner of the MacArthur Fellowship (a.k.a. the genius grant), provided this doodle as a starting point; the rest is up to you.

UPDATE 11/22: Carolita Johnson is the winner of our challenge!
See the winning submission and the runners up. Thanks to everyone who shared their work with us!

Mother earth with her children. What's an earth to do?!

I love to doodle. I enjoy discovering what my unconscious is up to. I often play a game called 5 lines if you do not know how to play I am glad to share my doodle game with you.

when first viewing Alison's doodle I was struck by the feeling of a desperate GRASP. My thought for this doodler is that we are all engaged in a GRASP, some tenderly, others desperate or angrily. But all of us holding on.

the character here is an avid doodler but she also knows when doodling there is often no filter. That is why she is a daring doodler.

This is the last doodle I am submitting. I really enjoyed this opportunity and listen to public radio all the time. I hope my work will be acknowledged, and help others to question and learn. Thank you, Michelle

This is the first of three doodles I'm submitting, all express different personal reflections and self image that seem to be universal. Recently I had an injury which has made it difficult to draw and write, so I'm relying on technology to express my thoughts. Thanks for this opportunity,Michelle.

I've probably seen North by Northwest too many times, but Alison Bechdel's figure just said "presidential nose" to me. I was inspired to enter by the current Comic Books and Graphic Novels course on Coursera, which features Bechdel's Fun Home...and, of course, by her MacArthur prize!
