Inspired by vintage doodle books, our challenge gives you a fragment of a drawing to complete any way you’d like. Alison Bechdel, the noted cartoonist and winner of the MacArthur Fellowship (a.k.a. the genius grant), provided this doodle as a starting point; the rest is up to you.
UPDATE 11/22: Carolita Johnson is the winner of our challenge!

when first viewing Alison's doodle I was struck by the feeling of a desperate GRASP. My thought for this doodler is that we are all engaged in a GRASP, some tenderly, others desperate or angrily. But all of us holding on.

This is the first of three doodles I'm submitting, all express different personal reflections and self image that seem to be universal. Recently I had an injury which has made it difficult to draw and write, so I'm relying on technology to express my thoughts. Thanks for this opportunity,Michelle.

I've probably seen North by Northwest too many times, but Alison Bechdel's figure just said "presidential nose" to me. I was inspired to enter by the current Comic Books and Graphic Novels course on Coursera, which features Bechdel's Fun Home...and, of course, by her MacArthur prize!
