Ivana Lowell tells the story of being born into the Guinnesses, one of the most celebrated Anglo-Irish families, and coming to terms with her blue-blood heritage and her own childhood traumas. Her memoir Why Not Say What Happened tells the story of her relationship with her complicated mother, the writer Caroline Blackwood, and her stepfather, the poet Robert Lowell. The book also looks at her stints in rehab, and the family secrets she discovered.
