Charles Portis's True Grit

The Leonard Lopate Show | Feb 7, 2011

True Grit leaped to #1 on the New York Times Bestseller List on January 30 – bumping off Stieg Larsson. We’ll look into the life and work of Charles Portis, who lives in Arkansas, and whose novels have recently been reissued by Overlook Press. We’ll be joined by Lynne Nesbit, his agent for the last 40 years, Peter Mayer, Overlook publisher, and Carlo Rotella, an English professor in Boston who went down to Arkansas to meet with Charles Portis in November, and then wrote about him in the New York Times magazine.
