At first glance, Andy Suzuki and the Method seem like a contradiction. With their lineup of piano, hand percussion, and violin, they look like a Dave Matthews-esque jam band. But the sounds coming from of the trio are much more akin to the contemporary R&B of John Legend and Usher. That’s mostly because Andy Suzuki, the half-Japanese, half-Jewish frontman of the group, is blessed with a velvet voice that competes with that of any radio soul star. This song, “Good at Goodbye,” is a bit folkier than other Method songs, but its a good example of the kind of capable and unpretentious pop music at which the trio excels.
