Former State Comptroller Hevesi Hospitalized, Says Judge

Former Comptroller Alan Hevesi, who is awaiting sentencing for trading access to the state's public pension system for money and other perks, has been hospitalized for unspecified reasons. 

Judge Lewis Bart Stone said he would transfer the case to an administrative judge on Hevesi's next court date, which is April 4.

Hevesi, who faces up to four years in prison, pleaded guilty in October to green-lighting investments in exchange for almost $1 million in gifts.

Hevesi's lawyer said Stone had no business sentencing his client after a fiduciary relationship was discovered between the judge and the estranged father of Hevesi's lawyer. Stone is apparently acting as his trustee to two trusts and a will.
