Stabbing Spree Suspect Pleads Not Guilty

The man accused of killing four people and wounding four others in a 28-hour stabbing spree pleaded not guilty to murder charges in Brooklyn court on Tuesday.

Maksim Gelman had previously pleaded not guilty to assault and attempted murder in Manhattan. He appeared in a Brooklyn court on Tuesday surrounded by heavy security. Gelman, who had 10 prior arrests, is currently being held without bail.

Gelman's 28-hour reign of terror began two months ago after his stepfather refused to let him borrow his mother's car, authorities said.

He's accused of using a kitchen knife to stab his father to death then stealing the car and driving to the home of a woman, whom he killed along with her mother.

The citywide manhunt for Gelman ended with his dramatic capture by police on a No. 3 subway train near Times Square.
