Suspect in Stabbing of Pizzeria Owner Charged With Attempted Murder

A man who allegedly stabbed the owner of an upper-crust Brooklyn pizzeria last week has been charged with attempted murder.

Benny Geritano, who is accused of stabbing Lucali pizzeria owner Mark Iacono, told the court during his arraignment Sunday that he was acting in self defense when he got into a fight that left the pizza pioneer hospitalized with multiple stab wounds on Friday.

Geritano, who lifted his shirt in court to reveal wounds he said he sustained during the altercation, was held on $250,000 bail.

Iacono was hospitalized with stab wounds to the face, head and back. He has been charged with felony assault.
