Roommate Indicted in Rutgers Suicide Case

A former student at Rutgers University was indicted Wednesday on bias intimidation and other charges after allegedly using a webcam to spy on a same-sex encounter involving his roommate, who committed suicide afterward.

Dharun Ravi of Plainsboro, New Jersey, was indicted by a Middlesex County grand jury on charges of bias, invasion of privacy, witness and evidence tampering and other charges linked to the high-profile death of 18-year-old Tyler Clementi, who leaped off the George Washington Bridge last September. 

Charges against another student, Molly Wei, would not be presented to the grand jury "at this time," according to the indictment.

The shocking death of Clementi, who was a freshman at the school, sparked a nationwide debate on cyber-bullying.
