New York City, Surrounding Counties Under Tornado Watch

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for New York City and parts of Northern New Jersey and Connecticut through 8 p.m. tonight. 

In New York, all five boroughs along with Rockland, Orange, Westchester, Nassau and Putnam counties are under tornado watch.

The watch is also extended to Bergen, Passaic, Essex, Union and Hudson counties in New Jersey.

Fairfield and New Haven counties in Connecticut are also affected.

A watch does not mean storms are imminent but that conditions exist for them to develop.
