The life of songwriter, spoken word artist and the man many call the forefather of rap, Gil Scott Heron, was remembered at Riverside Church on Thursday during a memorial where Kanye West performed and Scott-Heron's daughter recited a poem. Scott-Heron, who died last Friday, was 62.
