Toy Piano: Not Just For Tots

Although the toy piano was originally conceived as a child’s plaything, the instrument has gained adult fans over the years, from John Cage to Tori Amos. As the fourth annual New York-based UnCaged Toy Piano Festival approaches, we speak with founder and toy pianist Phyllis Chen about the works being premiered at this year’s event, and the draw to the diminutive instrument.
