A voting joke in Connecticut

From the outgoing governor Jodi Rell:

Rell offered a list of joke items that could have gone into the 18-cubic-inch time capsule that was recently buried on the grounds of the governor's residence, including "My BlackBerry. ... It's gone."

In a swipe at Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz, who was on the raised table a dozen seats away from the governor, Rell said Bysiewicz's calculator -- referring to the changing vote totals in the days after the Nov. 2 election -- should also have been buried.

Bysiewicz, like Rell wearing a bright-red blazer and black top, smiled and waved to Rell and the crowd, most of whom were laughing nervously.

"We should also add a spare bag of Bridgeport ballots," Rell said of the city's election problems. "That way we'll always know where they are."

And since we're in that state: after the Bristol CT mayor collapsed and is now in a coma, it's still unclear who is supposed to run that city.
