Hometown: Brooklyn

The Facts: Last’s electronic music is all over the place, not unlike Agriculture labelmate DJ /rupture. His MySpace influences include Augstus Pablo, Kraftwerk, Radiohead and Terry Riley, and the mashed-up results have been added to the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and MOMA.  This mix of originals and remixes was recorded May 31 at Montreal’s MUTEK, an international festival of “digital creativity and electronic music.”

The Sound: In this case, uptempo, funky and minimalistic – and definitely for the headphones.

Latest Release: David Last vs. Zulu - Musically Massive on Staubgold (2009).

He Said, She Said: “David Last masterfully alters the atmosphere from electro to techno to dancehall to reggae and back around”URB.com

“If you want a sneak preview of what dancehall reggae is likely to sound like ten years from now, this may be as good a guess as any.” – Rick Anderson, allmusic.com
