Joan Soriano: A Visit From The Duke Of Bachata

Soundcheck | Apr 12, 2013

It's not everyday that we get royalty in the Soundcheck studio. But that certainly was the case when the Duke of Bachata, Joan Soriano, dropped by to perform. Born in rural Dominican Republic, Soriano was one of 15 kids, and left school at an early age to work on the family farm. Music led him to the capital of Santo Domingo, and then onto the international scene with two record releases, including La Familia Soriano.

Hear the singer and guitarist perform in our studio with members of the Soriano Family Band, including some not-yet released songs. Plus, Soundcheck host John Schaefer talks with Soriano's manager about the life and career of Soriano.

Set List:

  • "Vocales de Amor"
  • "Tu Te Fuiste y Me Dejaste"
  • "Me Decidi a Dejarte"
