Happy Birthday, Leo!

Soundcheck | May 3, 2010
Chamber music comprises the bulk of composer Leo Kraft’s output-his Chamber Symphony No. 2 for 16 Instruments being his most recent-though he has written orchestral, piano and vocal works, as well as set poems by e.e. cummings to music.
Today, Kraft turns 80, and we’re celebrating with him. The Brooklyn-born composer drops by for a discussion of his Finale from Six Pieces and other works. Plus, New Yorker music critic Alex Ross offers an appraisal of works by Kraft, Aaron Copland, and other 20th and 21st century composers. Leo Kraft
