#3693: Electronic or Acoustic?
Hear electronic or acoustic or electro-acoustic chamber music for this New Sounds, some involving sound design, outright electronic instruments, or treatments, as in the case of Missy Mazzoli and her group, Victoire. Listen to the work, “Song for Arthur Russell,” which looks back to the late New York downtown cellist, as well as a song from Arthur Russell himself. Also, hear music from the 2014 release, "Tomorrow was the Golden Age” by New York’s Bing and Ruth. Led by composer David Moore, Bing and Ruth is a septet, riding the divide between post-rock and indie classical music. Then, listen to chamber music from New York-based composer Chris Cerrone for male voice, trumpet, trombone, and bass clarinet, as well as music from a dance score by Jon Opstad. (Note: Opstad did the score to the much-lauded and provocative British episodic series, “Black Mirror.”) Plus, an early work from composer John Adams involving synthesizer and horns.
