Piano Music from BCE

Soundcheck | May 3, 2010
BCE - That's "Before Copland Emerged," though perhaps someday archeologists will discover an ancient Egyptian piano. Stephen Mayer and Alan Feinberg join us today to play piano music from American composers of the 19th and early 20th centuries. Ukranian American composer Virko Baley stops by to share his new piece, Treny, and the upcoming concert at Juilliard that will feature his music. New York Times critic Ben Ratliff also drops by to offer his enthusiasm for the young Norwegian bassist and bandleader Eivind Opsvik.
