American Music Festival on Soundcheck

Soundcheck | May 3, 2010
Soundcheck is spending this week celebrating WNYC's annual American Music Festival, so tune in for the best that both North and South America has to offer, especially when musicians and composers from both work together! Jonathan Sheffer and the Eos Orchestra have been rediscovering forgotten works of important composers and performing them for nearly a decade. Their new season begins this month with film music by Aaron Copland. Mr. Sheffer will be in the studio to discuss their upcoming concert and the orchestra’s Grammy-nominated CD, Celluloid Copland. Also, conductor Kristjan Jarvi will tell us about the Brooklyn Philharmonic’s American Lollapalooza, an eclectic mix of American music being performed this weekend.
