A Tale of Two Johns (Jons)

John Flansburgh, co-founder of the band They Might Be Giants, has teamed up with WNYC to create and host two hour-long specials called, "Now Hear This!" that will take listeners on an exploration into the ever-expanding world of popular music. Flansburgh is a true public radio regular, and he joins us today with a preview of the program. Also, Jon Deak is best known for inhabiting the rear of the stage at Avery Fisher Hall as principal bass of the New York Philharmonic. But he's also a familiar figure around New York for his music education and composing activities. Next week, the Sylvan Winds are performing his work "The Bremen Town Musicians" and he stops by with a preview. Finally, we visit with music journalist Marion Rosenberg, who previews an upcoming series of concerts by the soprano Dawn Upshaw at Carnegie Hall.
