MoMA Dearest

The Museum of Modern Art reopens its doors this week after a 2½-year, $425 million renovation, nearly double its old size. Today on Soundcheck, Justin Davidson and Ariella Budick, husband and wife architecture and art critic duo from Newsday, join us with an appraisal of the new space. Of course, MoMA has long been home to more than just visual art. For ten years Joel Sachs has been artistic director of the MoMA's "Summergarden" series (suspended during the building’s reconstruction). He discusses how the museum has provided a meeting point between modern art and modern music. He also previews an upcoming concert by the New Julliard Ensemble, which he conducts. That program features the music of composer Virko Baley, an increasingly a noted figure outside of his native Ukraine, and who also joins us today.
