Listen to piano music by producer/composer/pianist Chilly Gonzales, Meredith Monk & Christopher Cerrone, and more.
Sample some piano music by Canadian-born, German-based producer/composer/pianist Chilly Gonzales. Classically-trained, he’s lately been working with Jarvis Cocker (Pulp) on a collection of art songs - Room 29. Also, hear music of the American southwest by Peter Garland, inspired by the peyote chants of Native Americans. Then, listen to a noir-ish nocturnal piece from Cuban-born Brooklyn-based composer Aruán Ortiz, from his record “Cubanism,” along with a song by composer/pianist & singer Ed Pastorini, who leads a band called 101 Crustaceans.
There's also a nocturne by Christopher Cerrone, called “Hoyt Schermerhorn,” performed by pianist Vicky Chow. Plus, listen to works by Meredith Monk for two pianos, and one for Meredith Monk at the piano which was recorded live at The Kitchen.
