#4009: New Sounds of Old Folk Songs

New Sounds | Jan 19, 2020

For this New Sounds hear new approaches to old folk songs from Sam Lee, Dálava, Trad.Attack!, and others. Listen to Sam Lee and Friends and their arrangements of folk songs from the British travelers community, along with music from Hungarian folk band Muzsikas.

Then there's music from Dálava, a project led by vocalist Julia Ulehla & guitarist Aram Bajakian along with a band of improvisers, who channel traditional Moravian folk music. Their latest record is The Book of Transfigurations. Also, hear folk music from Estonia with acoustic 12-string guitar, drums and an array of whistles, bagpipes and jew’s harps by Trad.Attack! Plus, listen to something by the Scottish band, Mouth Music, and more.
