#4282: New Releases, Sept. 2019

New Sounds | Sep 30, 2019

It's the most wonderful time of the month - time for new releases! John Schaefer sorts through all of the digital promo submissions, and a few physical releases - both newly uncovered and recently acquired - to present some of the finest new music from the month of September.

Listen to a portion of a collaborative record – a guided journey through the Tibetan Book of the Dead, called Songs Of The Bardo - by Laurie Anderson, composer, storyteller and multimedia artist; the Tibetan multi-instrumentalist Tenzin Choegyal, and the composer/pianist Jesse Paris Smith.

There’s also new work by computer music composer Carl Stone, Ekhodom (an offshoot of Thievery Corporation), singer and keyboardist Majel Connery, electroacoustic work by Nina Keith, a trans woman composer and multi-instrumentalist from Philadelphia (Keith's Bandcamp) and something new from Penguin Café. Plus, music by Floating Spectrum aka Taiwan-born, Berlin-based composer and audio technologist, Mei-Fang Liau made from a combination of synthesizers, everyday household objects, and unique software synthesizers made by Liau herself. - Caryn Havlik
