Bach meets Brubeck

Bach meets Brubeck in tonight’s show, where we’ll hear variations on Johann Sebastian Bach from jazz musician and composer Chris Brubeck.
Chris Brubeck follows in his legendary father Dave’s footsteps as he brings us his “Variations on Themes by Bach,” with the London Symphony Orchestra under Joel Revzen. After that, Pianist Mitsuko Uchida (the “High Priestess of Mozart” according to critics) dazzles us with Mozart’s 3rd piano sonata in Bb. Conductor Hugh Wolff and the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra serenade us with Dvorak, while Jeremy Barlow and the Broadside Band get our feet tapping with some popular Renaissance dance tunes. Then it’s back to Bach for his Cantata no. 82, “I have enough,” sung by hunky German bass-baritone Matthias Goerne. That’s enough indeed to make it a lovely musical evening!
