Jake Blount is an award-winning banjoist, fiddler, and scholar of old time American music – who specializes in Black and Native American music of the southeast, where his own family is from. He is half of the touring duo Tui and a board member of Bluegrass Pride.

In 2020, Jake released a full-length album, called Spider Tales – a reference to Anansi, the West African trickster figure who takes the shape of a spider. Jake joined us remotely around the record release to play some of these unusual old tunes as well as new takes on traditional songs.

Also, from the New Sounds Live Concerts, hear music by Horse Flies, whose members include Judy Hyman and Jeff Claus, the co-producers of Jake Blount’s latest record. Plus, music by Last Forever and the quartet ETHEL.
