From Astor PIazzolla to Los Tangueros del Oeste, it’s an hour of Tango and Neo Tango music from Serbia, England, Finland, France, America, Uruguay, and Argentina. Listen to the latest from the Bay Area-based band Los Tangueros del Oeste who come from the Nuevo Tango styles of Astor Piazzolla, Gotan Project and Bajo Fondo. The group, consisting of Argentine, Venezuelan, Puerto Rican, and American musicians, blends beats and textures from hip hop and electronica with flamenco influences and mixes them within the cocktail shaker of improvisation.
Also, listen to music by Parisian band, Gotan Project, who combine tango and electronica. As a nod to their lineage, they named one of their records "Lunatico," after tango hero Carlos Gardel's champion racehorse. Hear the trippy blend of rock, mariachi, spaghetti western-style soundtrack music in the service of a tango, “Rosita,” from the band Beat Circus, led by Brian Carpenter.
