#4639, Expanded Strings
Hear music by Canadian composer and violinist Jessica Moss, a chamber work by composer and cellist Akshaya Avril Tucker, and the expanded Lab Guitar of Italian experimenter Pino Forastiere.
Listen to a concert-length work by Italian guitarist, composer, and restless experimenter, the ex-classical 6 and 10 string guitarist Pino Forastiere on his custom 19-steel string ("LAB guitar"). This Lab guitar not only has additional strings, but is also outfitted with kalimba and synthesizer.
Then, there’s music from the Austin, TX-based Density512 collective inspired by the Raag Madhuwanti (an evening Raag) and which “reflects the essence of watching a Hindustani singer perform.” The work is by composer, cellist and Odissi dancer, Akshaya Avril Tucker, whose work is inspired by the music and dance traditions of South Asia. Also, from a 7K! Records compilation, listen to a work for layered strings by Canadian composer and violinist Jessica Moss. - Caryn Havlik
