From a co-presentation of New Sounds Live and National Sawdust, listen to music by composer, musician, and producer Faten Kanaan, delivering her version of “the grindcore of ambient music” – because of her 20 second pieces that quickly shift to something else, (inciting a brief but intense mosh pit. \m/. Kidding about the last bit.) The live set of music by Brooklyn-based German-born Syrian-Palestinian-Jordanian-Lebanese composer Faten Kanaan features combinations of piano, keyboards, and electronics in repetitive structures of modern minimalism and early music/baroque, that stretch out languorously, warmly and with a timelessness.
Also, there’s lush, symphonic piano and strings from French-born British pianist and composer Riopy from the 2023 album Thrive, which is based on Beethoven’s “Moonlight” Sonata.
