#4854, Cycling Violins
Drawing on "music with repetitive structures", hear the cycling and recycling of musical motifs using the violin from Estonian fiddler Maarja Nuut, the late American composer and violinist Michael Galasso, and chamber music led by the Irish fiddler Martin Hayes.
Listen to work from Estonian singer, violinist, and electronic artist Maarja Nuut whose music resides in a place where minimalism and experimental music meet the village. Hear work from her albums Soolo, and Une Meeles. There’s also music by the Martin Hayes Quartet, who are Irish fiddler Martin Hayes, Doug Wieselman on bass clarinet, Liz Knowles’ viola d’amore, and guitar by the late Dennis Cahill. Listen to their work from The Blue Room which combines the influence of American minimalism and chamber music with traditional Irish music.
