Sample music from composer and sideman Marc Ribot, West African guitarist Vieux Farka Touré, acoustic blues from Rory Block, and cosmic inventions from Vernon Reid and zither player Laraaji.

Hear music from guitarist Marc Ribot, who has been sideman to everyone from Tom Waits to Robert Plant & Allison Krauss, from Caetano Veloso, to Allen Toussaint, from Jamaaladeen Tacuma to Diana Krall, & John Zorn. Listen to his version of a John Coltrane tune.

Also, hear a tune from Malian singer and guitarist Vieux Farka Touré whose music is rooted in the sounds and rhythms of West African blues. Listen also to acoustic blues from award-winning singer and guitarist Rory Block and front porch music from American songster and multi-instrumentalist Dom Flemons (founding member of the Carolina Chocolate Drops).

Then, it’s music from Vernon Reid and Laraaji, together with an arsenal of electronics, in addition to their instruments, with occasional vocalizing. Vernon Reid came to prominence as the main songwriter for the rock band Living Colour, and as a founder of the Black Rock Coalition. The ambient zither player and electronic musician Laraaji was also part of Brian Eno’s groundbreaking Ambient Music series back in 1981. That, and more.
