Hear new music from the South Indian violinist, vocalist, composer, and producer L. Shankar who plays a 10-stringed, double-necked electric violin. His 2024 album, Full Moon, features tabla player, Abhijit Banerjee, and combines southern Carnatic, northern Hindustani and world music systems in a balance of structure and spontaneity, (https://xdot25.com/l-shankar). There’s also new work by Bryce Dessner for Katia & Marielle Labèque and guitarists Bryce Dessner and David Chalmin, (who have played shows as the Dream House Quartet); it’s from their latest, Sonic Wires.

Plus, hear Duo Falak, (Russian guitarist Denis Sorokin and percussionist Shohin Qurbon), who interpret traditional Falak music from Tajikistan which dates back to pre-Islamic times in the Pamir mountains, from an improvisation recorded in Tashkent. There’s also new music from Grand Electric, an electric guitar and piano duo, Mark Dancigers and Aaron Wunsch, who combine the flexibility of electric guitar with the acoustic resonance of piano, on their debut album, Dawn, which spans both the acoustic and electric realms.
