The first hour of this show, airing on the first night of Hanukah, features music from the "Radical Jewish Culture" series on John Zorn's Tzadik record label. Hour two is a Spinning On Air Xmas Xtravaganza from nine years ago.
In the first hour musicians such as guitarist Tim Sparks, vocalist Loren Sklamberg, and saxophonist Danny Zamir are heard along with groups such as Boston's Naftule's Dream, Belgium's Psamim, and Germany's Ahava Raba. Each is reweaving the strands of traditional Jewish music influences. Hour two is a Spinning On Air Xmas Xtravaganza from nine years ago. David Garland's then-six-year-old son sat on David's lap to help present an array of unusual Christmas song interpretations, and to comment on his Santa-inspired excitement. Also included is an old recording of Dicken's "A Christmas Carol" featuring actor Charles Laughton.
