It's that time again for the monthly program of new releases. John Schaefer picks through the bucketloads of CDs that have flooded his office to find new releases worthy of showcasing in tonight's New Sounds program. Hear from the chamber-rock band Pinataland, with grooves featuring accordion, tuba, violin and sometimes even theremin. There’s also music from the Albins Alpin Quintett, whose Pilatus suite features tunes named after various places on the Swiss mountain. Plus, junk music master and found sound manipulator Donald Knaack’s “Styrofoam Never Dies” from his latest recording “Junkmusic 2.” And much more.
