Johann Johannsson live at Le Poisson Rouge

Spinning on Air | Jun 4, 2010

Icelandic composer Johann Johannsson blends acoustic and electronic, old-style and high-tech, organic and synthetic sounds into a romantically rhapsodic musical experience.

Johannsson has just been touring in the US, playing for enthralled audiences with fellow Icelandic multi-intrumentalist Matthias Hemstock, and the string quartet of the NYC-based new music ensemble ACME. On April 30, 2010, the group performed at the New York venue Le Poisson Rouge. That concert has been edited and mixed for this broadcast by host David Garland, and includes an interview with Johannsson. Johannsson first visited Spinning On Air in 2003.
