Mayoral Candidate Thompson Pounds the Pavement in Final Campaign Push

With low voter turnout expected for Tuesday's mayoral election, Democrat candidate Bill Thompson is traveling around the city this weekend to encourage voters to get to the polls. "It's not about being on TV or radio. I think you're going to see a lot of me campaigning across the city of New York. We're going to be out there working hard, getting every voter out," Thompson says.

He picked up some last-minute endorsements today from Latino and black police officers, and clergy in Brooklyn. The mayoral candidate also laid out his vision for the city in an effort to differentiate himself from Mayor Bloomberg. Thompson says that to spur economic growth he would create low-rent hot zones in the city, where businesses could receive tax breaks if they created a specific number of jobs.
