Sunset Park Rezoning Passes City Council

The city council has approved a rezoning plan for Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Opponents say it favors real estate developers and will push low-income families out of the neighborhood. But Council Speaker Christine Quinn says the real threat to Sunset Park residents is the current lack of building regulation, not the rezoning plan.

QUINN: Really what's there today has no protection for the residents who are there because buildings of any size or bulk could really get put in.

REPORTER: The rezoning plan sets up the first height limits over 128 blocks, and will also give more floor area to residential developments that will include affordable housing. The mayor is expected to sign the bill.
