NYC School Nurses Get Trained in H1N1 Vaccines

Hundreds of school nurses are being trained to administer the swine flu vaccine, which is expected to become available next month. The nurses gathered yesterday at a Brooklyn hotel to learn what to expect and what to do.
After the closed-door session, one nurse – who would only give her name as “Lorna” – said she was a little concerned, because giving dozens of vaccinations at a time isn’t what she usually does.
LORNA: It’s gonna be a very busy school year, and I think we’re going to be under a lot of pressure, because we have so much work to do.
REPORTER: The head of the school nurses union, Judith Arroyo, says the training sessions, led by the City Health Department, were helpful, but they didn’t explain how nurses would administer so many vaccines and tend to their usual workload.
