Report Cards for City Schools to be Released Today

For the third year in a row, the city will release A though F letter grades for every school. The marks will be given out today in what are called progress reports.

The reports have caused controversy in the past because many schools with high test scores were given low letter grades, while others with low scores got As and Bs.

The department of education says the reports measure progress, by looking at whether schools are raising test scores for all students - especially low-income and minority students.
